Kata Group and Beyond Resorts

A pivotal moment arrived in 1985 when Pramookpisitt met Tunyaratt Achariyachai (Formerly Kanda Thavornwongwongse). Their love story was intertwined with his ambitious plans for expansion. Tunyaratt, captivated by Pramookpisitt’s vision, agreed to marry him on the condition that he build more hotels and resorts. Together, they acquired two hectares of beachfront land in the Karon area and established Kata Inn 85, a 80-room resort that later became renowned as Karon Beach Resort and Spa until 2013, the resort underwent a complete refurbishment and rebranded as Beyond Resort Karon.

Pramookpisitt’s persistence paid off as he finally married Tunyaratt in 1986, uniting their passions for love and business.

Continuing to meet the rising demand for accommodations, Kata Beach Resort and Spa expanded to 275 rooms, solidifying its position as a premier destination on Phuket Island until 2017. It was then rebranded as Beyond Resort Kata.

Pramookpisitt’s contributions to Phuket’s tourism industry were recognized in 1995 when he became Vice President of the Phuket Tourists Association. To commemorate the 60th birthday of His Majesty King Rama IX, he organized the world’s longest beach buffet, attracting guests with a 1.5 km-long feast for just 500 baht.

Pramookpisitt’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to develop a third resort, Karon Inn, into a massive 525-room complex. Featuring a ballroom, seminar facilities, and a thrilling water slide, Phuket Orchid Resort and Spa became a popular choice for families and children.

Seeking to further expand his hospitality empire, Pramookpisitt ventured to the island of Samui. He named his new resort Kandaburi Resort and Spa, a tribute to his wife. In 2015, the resort partnered with the renowned Novotel Group, rebranding as Novotel Samui Resort Chaweng Beach Kandaburi.

Pramookpisitt’s unwavering determination led him to establish the Beyond brand in Krabi and Khaolak. The two near-200-room resorts, Beyond Resort Krabi and Beyond Resort Khaolak, offered distinct experiences. Beyond Resort Khaolak catered to honeymooners with its adult-only concept, while Beyond Resort Krabi appealed to families and couples with its beachfront location and diverse amenities.

After nearly four decades of building a successful hospitality empire, Pramookpisitt, who later changed his name to Pramookpisitt, passed the torch to the next generation. He acquired a prime piece of land in Patong, Phuket’s most expensive area, and established Beyond Patong. Designed for young travelers seeking vibrant nightlife and relaxation, Beyond Patong featured 161 rooms, a panoramic swimming pool, and a rooftop Pool Bar.

Pramookpisitt’s innovative spirit continued with the opening of Pamookkoo Resort, a family-friendly destination inspired by the Mesopotamian theme. Located near Kata Beach, this resort offered a water park, 512 rooms and suites, and extensive conference facilities.

Novotel Samui Resort Chaweng Beach Kandaburi underwent a rebranding in 2022, becoming Beyond Kandaburi. Managed by the Kata Group, this chic Thai-style beach resort provided a serene escape at the northern end of Chaweng Beach.

Pramookpisitt’s legacy continued with the development of Beyond Skywalk Nangshi, a breathtaking resort in the Phang Nga Bay area. Featuring a 80-meter-high glass and steel skywalk, this unique attraction offered panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

In 2024, Mr. Pramookpisitt and the new generation management team sought to revitalize the Beyond Hotels and Resorts brand. They redefined the brand identity, updated the logo, and renamed each hotel and resort. The seven hotels and resorts under the Beyond Brand were divided into three series based on their locations:

• Sea-series: Beyond Kata, Beyond Karon, Beyond Khaolak, Beyond Krabi, and Beyond Samui
• Mountain-series: Beyond Skywalk Nangshi
• City-series: Beyond Patong
